41st Indianapolis International Motor Sweepstakes
Giuseppe Farina was planning to enter the Indianapolis 500 in 1957 but the car was crashed in testing by Keith Andrews, the driver being killed and the car destroyed so, as usual, there were no European racers entered for the Indy 500 but it remained on the World Championship calendar. The race was won by Sam Hanks at the wheel of a Belond Exhaust Special who finished 20 seconds ahead of Jim Rathmann's Chiropractic Special with Jimmy Bryan third in his Dean Van Lines Special.
